Kids started school on the 12th. Kaitlyn is in 6th, Kase is in 5th and Coby is in 4th. This is our last year of elementary school.....
We went to Meet the Teacher at LES the Sat before school started. Coby got Mrs. Williams....:( but the good news is that he has buddy teachers this year....so he only stays half a day and then goes to see Mrs. Noble (Ms. Crump). I didn't get to talk with Mrs. Williams but I did speak with Mrs. Noble and made sure she understood I expect Coby to turn in everything on time or she needs to let me know. She seems really sweet. I got to chat with Mrs. Williams a little on the first day....but more at Open House...she seems a little more mellow...but there are so many changes with the education system this year that I am anxious to see how it will affect my son. Kase has a new homeroom teacher....because Mrs. Hart moved up to 6th grade. She is nice....she has been an 8th grade teacher so I am sure she will know how to handle those rowdy 5th graders....LOL. Kaitlyn's homeroom is Mrs. She was a little bummed because she really wanted Trintiy to be in her class.....and she isn't. Kaitlyn and Trintiy have really hit it off since the end of last year....when Izzy left. Kaitlyn and Trinity wore the same colored shirt and bottoms and matching finger nail polish for the first day in hopes they would be in the same class....:(
So far school is going ok....Kase and KK are in band together....and KK kinda feels the need to rush Kase and tell him what to do because she was there last year....so I have had to tell her that he deserves the chance to shine just like her. Coby has already had a note sent home for no homework....he told me he didn't have any....so we have been having some tough love times with discipline...trying to teach him...you have to do your work.
Coby turned '9' on the 28th. So hard to believe he is almost 10. He just seems so much younger than the other 2 kidos....instead of only a year. I went up to the school and ate with him....and brought him a piece of cookie cake and an icee. The cafeteria worker's birthday was the 28th too...so she bought Coby an extra item to add to his tray. He told me that it was the best day....and he didn't want it to end.
I want to bring cupcakes....but they were tied up with class work....so my goal was to bring them on Thursday...but my car broke down again....so it didn't happen. We went and ate at Cracker Barrel for his birthday. It was late by the time we got there....so when they came out and sang...the coca cola cake slice they brought him was HUGE!! He kept giving it away...and he still left some on the plate :) I think he enjoys drinking root "beer" the most when we go to CB......:)
We had his party at ChuckECheese's in Covington. He ended up having 9 little friends come to celebrate with him. He loved being center of attention. When it was time to 'rock out' with Chucky....he was playing his guitar like Jimi Hendrix...LOL He came up with his own ideas for the cake. We had the supermarket decorate the cake to look like dirt and water....and then we added Legos to it. His helicopter and ATV was in the dirt. The shark, surfer, and jet ski was in the water...LOL Everyone thought it was a great idea.....and it did look cute. He received a crown with Tokens, a medallion and a chance in the Ticket Blaster as part of his party. He loved the Ticket Blaster...he was catching those tickets like crazy....He received a few Lego sets but his biggest excitement was the $80 he got from everyone. He says he is putting it up for a tablet....so we will see......
After the party we went to the pet store and Coby (Keith too) tried his hardest to get a beaded dragon. I told him....NO WAY. They are very low maintenance....but I have already declared....no more animals in my house..LOL!!!
We had Kasen and Kades party Sat evening....so I went with the boys...and they ended up staying Sat night and Sun night since it was Labor Day holidays. This was Kase's second overnighter....but Coby's first. I checked on them Sunday...and they were having a blast. They were told they were welcomed back anytime because they were so well behaved...LOL :) When they got home....they couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had. Coby was so excited to tell me all about his sleepover. Kase loved telling me how they went fishing and he caught 2 big mouth bass and then he got to throw them back in...(that was the cool part he said...LOL).
Fall is among us. I have Cub Scout Roundup at the school on the 5th of Sept and Scouts starts back on the 9th. I can't wait for cooler weather....and camping. Its nice to get out and just be electronic free for a few days......:)
