well now we know why Kase continues to have high fever even though he has been on antibiotics. He has pnuemonia! He was put on Omnicef on Monday...and given a Rocephin injection. Then we returned on Thursday...no better....he received another Rocephin injection and oral meds were changed...he is now taking Zythromax...and was started on albuterol nebulizer treatments. On friday....he was given yet a third injection of Rocephin....and a steroid injection....and told to come back yet again on Saturday. Today we went...he now has wheezing in the front...didnt have that before...it was all in his posterior lungs....anyway....he was put on oral steroids and another antibiotic...this time Augmentin....and we had to get a chest x-ray. Ok....so this crap is pretty potent....because its still there....and we are not seeing any changes. ARGGGG!! Kase doesnt have the fever anymore....but at times...he is sooo pooped....can't say that I blame him....I am sooo exhausted from all these doc visits myself. So now we get 1 day off....and we will return on Monday evening....for yet another visit to the doc. The doctor did say that there is a new 'super' bug out there....and it is restistant to most of the antibiotics we have....so without being able to culture his sputum....she is leaning toward Kase having that.
It was so funny today when Kase had his xray....coby said he wanted to see inside Kase's body...so the radiology tech took us back there and showed us Kase's body.....and explained everything to Coby and Kaitlyn....afterward....Coby said..."that was soooo cool"....LOL...Kids are sooo easily amused!! :)
On another note....Thursday they called a MANDATORY meeting....and told us that the unit I work on is going to close as of Oct 31st. So we all have to put in transfer requests....or move on....I swear...this year....has just SUCKED so bad....I know that it could be worse....and I really dont want anything worse...its just....DAMN.....everytime I see the light.....the fucking door gets shut!!!
